The Raptor’s Shadow

She’s a post-apocalyptic dystopian warlord with superpowers but she lives in 1920’s London because the world just won’t end.

Queer LitRPG Superpower Vigilante Alt‑History

Stella Maris was brought up from infancy to survive after an apocalypse that might never happen, trained to lead armies in a war she may never fight, and gained incredible power on her sixteenth birthday.

War with the gangs of London is good training for what could be coming, but that plan is derailed when she discovers a warehouse full of teenagers with strange powers. Her mother wants her to lead this new generation, her bibi-daj thinks she should have fat babies and be safe and happy, and Stella just wants to know what’s going.

Investigating is difficult when you’ve been trained to fight, not find, and her mother putting the safety of innocents in the gang war she might have accidentally started on her shoulders does not make her task easier, but Stella has a plan, and it involves punching gangsters.

What to Expect

A diegetic emergent story-driven soft-litrpg system that becomes slightly crunchier after level 10.

Slow-burn power development with trauma-informed arcs and character first storytelling.

Grounded alt-history worldbuilding that combines cultural divergence, political nuance, and historical texture.

Unapologetically feminist storytelling, with plenty for male readers to love, too.

Political theory. Feminism. Lots of queer characters including at least one trans character. Yes, there were trans people in the 1920s.

No harem. No OP mc. Read the content warnings. Not suitable for younger readers.

Other POVs include:

Selene: death-cult survivor turned war mum. She’s spent sixteen years preparing Stella for the end of the world, and now she has almost 160 superpowered teenagers to love and, by love, she means turn into weapons. This is a community building side story.

Hildy: she has no superpowers, no boyfriend, and no life, but she does have a career as a journalist, even if she can’t find believable ways to write about superpowered youths fighting “demons” in street battles when the world doesn’t yet believe in superpowers.

Magpie: baby disaster lesbian, apprentice thief, and chaos-goat mum. Has a phobia of pirate hats. Stole a guy’s lunch one time.

Maria: her brother is a tree but she can fix him.
